not exactly the strongest of teams is it?
ReplyDeleteCan some one please tell me how there are a number of girls in the ireland A squad from leinster who are not in the leinster team? Is there any structure to womens irish and provincial squads?? Really seems abit all over the place!!
ReplyDeletewho would you include/leave out?
ReplyDeleteWhat no Glennanne girls!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewouldn't exactly have put budd, costigan and walker down as top leinster players..where are the Ireland 'A' girls?
ReplyDeleteGo on the Dolan!!
ReplyDeleteWalker not a top Leinster player? She's top scorer in Leinster so far this season, and thats from midfield, including a hat-trick against pembroke lastweek. I think her place in the squad is fully deserved.
ReplyDeleteAndy
corinthians didnt play pembroke last week.
ReplyDeleteAll the ireland 'A' girls are still u-18.
ReplyDeletegoal-scoring isnt the only skill required by a hockey player
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't a hat-trick against pembroke!! it was alex. But she has put away some lovely goals this year.
ReplyDeleteGo on the walkz!
Yes, goal scoring isn't the only thing required from a hockey player but it can make a player. She's taller and stronger than most so her reach and power make her trodd on the little scrawney skilled types. I guess she's the female stephen butler in that sense!
ReplyDeleteshe's also got the right attitude which makes a change from the typical divas that go with this sport!
If Kate and Smithers didn't leave the country, it'd be the railway team!!
ReplyDeletebit like the mens being Glennane...
the female stephen butler??how many caps has she?there cant be any comparison there
ReplyDeletei hope eimear fitzsimons gets plenty of game time-by far the better goalie despite her low profile
ReplyDeleteciara murphy from trinity should be on the team
ReplyDeletesure look at ian hamilton and barnes up north, they just score a ton of goals.thats what gets them their starting places!
ReplyDeletealso seems like neputism and being in the "right" clubs will get you into representative teams.
where's shauna frey these days?she's a top keeper!if eimear fitzsimons is far better why isn't she involved in the irish set-up?
ReplyDeletewalker is not the only one able to score goals
ReplyDelete"ciara murphy from trinity should be on the team"
ReplyDeleteshe is playing for connacht
Yeah because she is not selected for leinster like half the connacht team. Learn the facts then post comments!!!
ReplyDelete"Yeah because she is not selected for leinster like half the connacht team. Learn the facts then post comments!!!"
ReplyDeleteLearn the facts indeed...
Ciara is from Galway and has played Connacht underage and Senior for YEARS and YEARS.
God this site does attract some Neanderthals.
(feeling a bit silly now I bet?)
she wasnt at leinster trials. she has always played for con. unlike most of the con players who are from leinster.
ReplyDelete"Yeah because she is not selected for leinster like half the connacht team. Learn the facts then post comments!!!"
ReplyDeletehow ridiculous. Arguments about leinster players in the connacht team are absurd, all without exception could have been selected onto leinster this year if they wanted, most played for galway clubs before moving to dublin. The eligibility rules are the same as anywhere else. Pointeless gripe.
Who is Stephen Butler? has he ever played internationally? what club is he in?
ReplyDeletefew of them played for galway before or connaucht. shauna doyle barbara fitzgerald susan ryan hilda maguire to name a couple. would these people make the leinster squad? probably not
ReplyDeletebarbara fitz and susan ryan HAVE represented connacht before
ReplyDeletewould they make the leinster squad? look at the current squand and ask yourself that honestly!
ReplyDeletejust wanna say while I agree it may not be the strongest team ever I wish the girls the Best of Luck over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThey all deserve their place as they've obviously given up their time to trial so good luck girls..Do Leinster proud!!
