Wesley claim senior league

In the third part of Wesley and St Andrew's trilogy of finals, the Ballinteer school picked up their second Leinster title on Wednesday afternoon, adding to the cup they won in March.

Goals from Carl Eggert and Jamie Tobin were the difference in a 2-0 win to give Wesley the league crown.

  3. ye no. at leinster comps but realistically the most prestigeous tornament is the all irelands and its the 1 every1 in ireland want to win....of course that was andrews....at startof season if asked to decide between double leinster trophies or all irelands it wud be obvious...come on andrews!!!

  5. Thought Wesley were far superior yesterday, and this is from a neutral view. They looked like they wanted it much more, and their strikers just didn't stop running. Thought the second goal was a brilliant individual effort and that the Wesley keeper had a great game. Was dissapointed with andrews tbh

  6. Think this just proves that the All Ireland result at the start of the year was the wrong result. This is the 5th year in a row Wesley have won the Senior Double and the 9th year they have won the league. A big congratulations should go to Wesley coach Keith Lemon, who is leaving the school, and that was his last game as coach after many years at the school

  7. Wesley were way too strong for Andrews. Thought Egger and Tobin up front had great games. Tobin didn't stop working all game and took his goal amazingly. And Eggert is just unbelievable. He scores goals for fun, and is just an unbelievable player, imo the best player in schools hockey!

  11. I have been watching those two teams play eachother for the last 5 or 6 years, and i have never seen that St Andrews team so lost without Stephen Cole. His ability to read the game was greatly missed by Andrews and probably gave our boys a mental boost!

  13. well done to wesley for a successful cup win.
andrews have ahd a better season, all irelands and john waring final.

Cookstown are brilliant as the john waring showed and things like eggert is the best in ireland, tobin in brilliant is all well and good but they fail to prove it against a good team. like Cookstown.
