FIH launches Olympic page

With four days to go to the Beijing Olympic Hockey tournament starts, the FIH has launched a special website. All hockey lovers will be able to follow their favorite sport through www.worldhockey.org/olympics.

A team of experienced hockey journalists will make sure that you will not miss anything of the Olympic Hockey Tournament, which is scheduled from 10 until 23 August 2008.

The site will feature live written commentaries from every match, as well as action photos, results, tables, top scorers, match sheets and daily round-ups. You will also be able to download the Olympic Daily newsletter, being produced by the FIH media team in Beijing.

does anyone know if there will be any coverage of the hockey tournament anywhere other than the usual 5mins action from a GB game on BBC?

All GB mens and womens games are available live via interactive (red button) on all BBC channels. Semi finals and finals are also live irrespective of which teams are involved. Go to BBC website-Olympics-Hockey-Full TV listings to get details of matches to be shown. My recollection of 2000 and 2004 Olympics is that further group games involving other teams are also shown live via interactive. There is various options on the interactive channel and one of them tends to stay on hockey all day. This was also the case for 2002 and 2004 Commonwealth Games. Mainstream BBC1and BBC2 tend to show most of the other main sports (athletics, swimming, rowing, cycling etc) and the hockey remains on interactive. Eurosport also have full TV listings but no sign of hockey on it.
