25 Leinster players in underage squads...


Twenty five Leinster players have been named in the Irish under 18 and 16 training panels announced this week, following last week’s Interpros.

In the under 18 squad announced by Arul Anthoni are: David Carson (Corinthian, St Andrews), Stephen Cole (Monkstown, St Andrews), James Dalrymple (TRR, Wesley), Brian Doherty (Corinthian, Wesley), Kyle Good (TRR, Wesley), Stuart Loughrey (Pembroke, St Andrews), Eoin MacArthur (Railway Union, Oatlands), Josh Purcell (YMCA, High School), Cian Speers (Monkstown, St Andrews), Andrew Ward (Monkstown, St Andrews), Stephen West (TRR, St Andrews)

This is a non European Year for the Under 18s and so player development is the main priority. They will play a friendly series of matches against England 13th-15th February (Dublin), against Belgium (Dublin)) 25th-27th March 2008 and against Scotland at home with dates and venue to be confirmed.

Under 16 Coach Andy Smyth announced 14 Leinster players in his 39 player panel for trials.

They are: Cian Booth (Monkstown, St Andrews), Luke Chadwick (YMCA, Wesley), George Dockrell (TRR, Gonzaga), Robert Fitzgerald (YMCA, Wesley), Simon Lowry (Monkstown, Newpark), Shane Madeley (TRR, Wesley), Scott Margetson (YMCA, Wesley), Neal Megarity (TRR, Wesley), Shane O’Donoghue (Glenanne, Templeogue), Mark Ryan (Suttonians, Sutton Park), Tom Samuel (TRR, Wesley), Andrew Shekleton (Fingal, Dundalk Grammar) Conor Stephens (St Andrews), Richard Sykes (Monkstown, St Andrews)

The Irish U16 Boys team will play in the European Youth Championships in Den Haag, Netherlands from the 6th -13th July 2008. In preparation they will play against England from 13th-15th February (Dublin), against Belgium (Brussels) 26th-28th March 2008 and against Scotland 20th-22nd June 2008.
