Irish Junior Cups round-up...

TRR needed a golden goal from Christian Judd to get past local rivals Corinthians. The game was level at the end of normal time after short corners from Ross Harris and Chris Pelow. Both Fingal and Clontarf had to go a stage further, needing penalties to dispatch YMCA and Weston respectively. Other Leinster winners were Glenanne (0ver Bray 6-1) and Monkstown (against Dvision 8's RCSI).

In the women's competition, four goals from Hazel Agar saw Alex home against Newbridge, Hermes fired seven past Fingal while Our Lady's had the best of Corinthian 5-2. Loreto, Pembroke, Suttonians, Railway Union, Clontarf, Bray and Genesis all made it into the hat for the second round.

Looks like the next round has thrown up some real hum-dingers!! There'll be some more big fallers at the 2nd fence to join Corinthian II and YMCA II!!

Pembroke II v Lisnagarvey II
Cork Harlequins II v Cookstown II
Fingal II v Annadale II

Can anyone tell me why the Leinster branch organised Div 3 games on the dates for IJC?! Whatever about later on in the cup but the first one or two rounds are bound to involve a high percentage of 3rd division teams!? Doesn't seem to be the case for the other divs involved but i'm not fully sure

I love the IJC, you never know who is going to play for what team. It's all so unknown. I'm sure Garvey will be a cracking game. The pick of the ties are definitely above. These games could go either way. Final v. Annadale is a great tie, Annadale had a very young team last yr so it'll be interesting to see who plays this year and on that pitch anything can happen. As I said, you just can't tell.

As for favourites, I think it's far too early for that talk. Teams in form now mightn't be near it come final time. There are 8/10 teams that could go all the way.

its true, its so tough to call favourites, because any team on any day could go all the way, all dey need is a bit of heart!! could really be anyone!!

The next round of the IJC has been scheduled for the 15th of December, yet there is also a full Div 1 program on that weekend!

Does anyone have any idea what the branch intend on doing?

trr to win IJC. hands down. They have a great blend of players on the way down and kids on the way up. Strength and a winning mentality is evident throughout the team.
