The Hooks: End of season honours

So, with the Celtic Cup done and dusted, senior hockey goes into a well-earned break for the summer, with just a few short months until the season starts again in the Neville Cup on September 13.

Obviously, that means season reviews and getting a bit of closure on the year gone by so, over the next couple of days, I’ll be publishing my highlights of the year, starting today with the Club of the Year awards.

Friday sees the Players awards.

Dear Hook,

Thanks for another great series of articles.

A great round up of the seaon, well balanced and good to see you brought in other aspects than just what happens on the pitch at 1s level. Also it'll be interesting to see what people think about next season as I see it as being one of the most open seasons in years.

So, based on this in depth insight, someone is going to run away with everything and be totally dominant, aren't they??!

No prizes for guessing that Mitch Darling will get a player award!

for what?scoring goals at the end of the season?in my opinion he had a relatively poor season by his standards and only began to show his potential by the end of the season. Not deserving of a full seasons recognition for 2months play!

I think darling is a top player however isnt deserving of a season award, there are other players in leinster that performed consistently better than him this season, his end of season performances in may and june would earn him a spot in a team of the season but as for an individual award i don't think so.

Whats happening with ali haughton at the moment?would have thought he would have been in the u21 team that went to edinburgh a couple of weeks back?is he still injured or out of favour?
