without being too disrespectful to the nevil cup, does anyone like playing in it, that is anyone in the top devision.australia only have 1 competition the league, and then the top 5 have a play off.
you wonder why players get burnt out early in there career. expecially if they do all that extra international stuff.

A lot of clubs use the Neville Cup to bring through some youngsters into their squad and give a starting role to squad players while resting others.

So I think there is a role for the competition to play.

can any explain why the divisions have been set up the way they are?division 8 and 9 only have 7 teams, Division 4 has 13, division 5 has 12............makes no sense at all!

Considering that Div 1 was the only league to complete their fixtures last year, does the fixtures committee think that makin gleagues bigger is going solve this problem?

Will teams entering in the lower divisions get a reduced entrance fee as they will only have half the matches?

Has nobody noticed how the branch are totally ignoring everything below Div 1, most clubs in Div 2 only have 6 league matches before xmas. And the new structuring for the Irish Senior Cup is very ignorant, the lesser teams always enjoy the day out against the big clubs and this will no longer happen. I am all for developing the elite level of our game but does the rest of Leinster have to suffer in order to do this? The branch is meant to be a members organisation run by members on behalf of the members. Its intention is not to isolate the top 6 or 7 clubs and make it even more difficult for emerging clubs to join the "elite". Anyone have any thoughts?

anyone notice the very small amount of money given to hockey in the capital sports grants from the gouvernment only €4000 to greenfields out of €50 million. Hockey being ignored? Did anyone apply?

The Irish Senior Cup should have been left as it was with the Senior 1 clubs joining in the 3rd round. This new system is very unfair to developing teams/clubs. In the last number of years teams like NICS, Bandon & Kilkeel have made the semi finals. Under the new system the chances of upsets or luck of the draw have greatly decreased.

We are perhaps a shy sport ... no-one mentioning the word Hockey in applications

You have "The North Kildare Club" in Leinster, in Munster you will find Fermoy HC (under "Fermoy Community Sports Project") getting €200K for a pitch & Catholic Institute in Limerick get €20K (not sure if for Hockey or Tennis).

The only ones who mentioned Hockey - Greenfields in Galway get €4K.

Any other pitches hidden in there ?
