The Hooks: Goalkeeper of the Year

On the men’s side, after a pre-season of transfers, the standard of goalkeeping in Leinster is now absurdly high. It’s interesting to note that Monkstown’s Dave Fitzgerald and Corinthian’s Ross Murray are both involved with Irish development squads but barely got a look-in at the Leinster senior squad.

Iain Walker, Charlie Henderson and Stephen Doran all pulled off some stunning performances – especially Doran and Henderson against Pembroke – but David Harte is a class apart between the posts.

In a vintage year for goalkeepers, the Pembroke net-minder frequently pulls off the improbable and his performances for Ireland show immense maturity.

Winner: David Harte

Fully agree with choice of Goalkeeper, especially in international games. Dave was class, but didn't feature much for pembroke.

Saw Dave play in the European's in Manchester... although he may have gone in as the number 2 choice, once he stepped in between the posts for the first game against Spain there was no doubting his international ability and Mark Ruddle didn't get a look in after that!!!

In fact after Spain, Netherlands, France and England, Ruddle only played in the last match against the Czech Republic

Thought Walker was superb this year. Also thought that Fitzgerald was immense, great form towards the end of the year. Although Harte did well for Ireland, he didn't over impress with Pembroke.....he is class though
