Old Alex and Cork C of I make wildcard headway

Anya Bowers second half goal gave them a crucial win in the IHL wildcard playoffs as Old Alex nicked an opening day win over Belfast Harlequins.

She opened the scoring but Judy Getty levelled the tie early in the second half. Bowers, though, popped up with the winner late on to give them the perfect start to the group. in which the top two claim IHL places.

Cork C of I lead the way in the group on goal difference, beating Greenfields 3-0 with a first half goal from Grace Young and strikes from Sinead Connery and Julie O'Sullivan.
