IHA confirm ISC refix dates

The Irish Senior Cup ties postponed due to frost and snow last weekend have been fixed to be played in the next fortnight with the two all-Ulster ties being played on Saturday while Three Rock and Monkstown’s ties will be played on February 13.

Both Leinster sides are involved in the National Indoor Trophy’s finals weekend, making the delay a necessity. This has a further knock-on effect for the Irish Junior Cup with Cookstown II’s tie with Glenanne II and Monkstown II’s hosting of Kilkeel II fixture postponed to February 20.

Revised men’s Irish cup schedule:

Irish Senior Cup:
February 6: Instonians vs Banbridge; Mossley vs Annadale
February 13: Raphoe vs Monkstown; Three Rock Rovers vs Cookstown

Irish Junior Cup
February 13: Newry II v Cork Church of Ireland II; Bandon II v Bangor II; YMCA II v Pembroke Wanderers II; Belfast Harlequins II v Lisnagarvey II; Instonians II v Fingal II; Railway Union II v Mossley II
February 20: Cookstown II v Glenanne II; Monkstown II v Kilkeel II

Disgrace. Since when should indoor take precedence over the Irish Senior Cup

I would suggest that an outdoor ISC fixture is easier to re-arrange than an indoor tournament in the national basketball arena, which is in case you didn't realise, often booked for basketball.

Ok, it's a fairly undesirable situation but the hands of the IHA are tied in my opinion.

Since it was organised by the IHA over 2-3 months ago!

Get Real- No-one can control the weather. Its not taking precedence at all, teams commit to different fixtures/tournaments all the time.

Re-fixes because of weather should always fit in around other exisitng fixtures

@1.05pm its not a case of indoor taking precedence over the ISC. It's more a case of that tournament had its date arranged weeks ago - so why should it be moved to accomodate one or two matches?

1.05 - sure that is just fishing for a response... given the situation, its a perfectly sensible decision by the IHA.

Winter break!!!!!!!!

so when will ISC draw take place then?

Why did the IHA not proceed with the draw last weekend. Any other sport would have still made the draw regardless of postponements

The irony - indoor tournament played in February gets in the way of outdoor games SCHEDULED in January. Who thinks this stuff up? It would be funny if it weren't so damn frustrating. Close January - play 3/4 weeks' indoor tournaments back-to-back. If you're religiously opposed to indoor, don't play it -enjoy the break, spend time with friends / families outside hockey for 3 weeks or get some gym work done and re-group for the second half of the outdoor. Everyone then also gets Christmas break. No-one plays important games on stupid dates and dodgy pitches in terrible weather. IHA, Leinster branch fixtures committee - get your act together and think in advance of next season.

indoor results?

why can monkstown first and seconds not play in the irish cups on the same weekend they field teams every other weekend what makes this so special

I suspect that the reason for not making the draw was because it was to take place after one of the postponed games. It could quite easily have been changed and made after the Pem Glens game, but it seems the competitions committee
are devoid of change. The reason given is not a good reason for postponement !

It is not only Monkstown, but Cookstown. It was always the case that ISC and IJC were on different dates.Teams have panels of 16 players,so Clubs should be able to play their strongest panel in both these IHA competitions. This should remain the case,as clubs should not be penalised for postponements due to weather.By the way Monkstown offered to stay overnight last saturday and play on sunday, but Raphoe had no alternative arranged.I would suggest that teams travelling long distances should be given this alternative in IHA competitions.

Really does'nt help Cookstown 2nds in their ijc tie with Glenanne. Cookstown 1st play Annadale in the Ulster prem same day as 2nd ijc game and then THE NEXT DAY play Banbridge in the rescheduled Kirk Cup Final - - this due to the stone-wall stubborness of the Ulster Br- even though a poll showes that 96% think that the date should be changed - - - Ulster br not helping their own clubs.. Cookstown are being un-neccessarily hampered simply because they have reached Kirk Final and their 2nds still in ijcup.
