Muller names 18-player squad for British trip

Ireland will travel to Bisham Abbey next Monday to take part in three uncapped challenge matches against Great Britain as part of the ongoing preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers at the end of April in Chile.

Gene Muller will bring 18 players for the trip with Lauren Barr, Alex Speers and Cliodhna Sargent unavailable due to injury.

Speaking about the trip, Muller is looking forward to a high-quality challenge: “These matches against Great Britain are a further chance for us to experiment and fine tune in our preparations for the World Cup Qualifiers. Our players have been training hard over the off-season and are excited to be playing matches against such quality opposition.”

Ireland squad: Emma Clarke (Leicester), Bridget Cleland (Ballymoney), Lizzie Colvin (Loreto), Eimear Cregan (Catholic Institute), Nicci Daly (Loreto), Roisin Flinn (Old Alex), Mary Goode (Bray), Louisa Healy (Loreto), Michelle Harvey (Pegasus), Lisa Jacob (UCD), Rachel Mulligan (Armagh), Audrey O'Flynn (UCC), Shirley McCay (Dragons), Julia O'Halloran (UCC), Niamh Small (Loreto), Emma Smyth (Railway Union), Emma Stewart (Armagh), Nikki Symmons (Loreto)
Not considered due to injury: Lauren Barr, Alex Speers, and Cliodhna Sargent.

Monday, February 22 Ireland v Great Britain, 2pm

Did the u16 boys play the ladies side?

I gather they had one full practice match and one half match against the Ire U16 boys, winning 2-1 and drawing 1-1

The ladies won the shorter game in the morning 2-1. The boys won the full match in the afternoon, also 2-1.

IN another post the following is mentioned: "Meanwhile, the IHA's core Irish Sports Council grant has been reduced from €270,908 in 2009 down to €260,071 for 2010 while the Women In Sport grant from the same organisation is down from €90,905 to €80,000"

Could someone please clarify the situation regarding the money given from Sport NI to the IHA. I think you will find it makes very interesting reading in comparison the figures above. Perhaps we should centralise up North
