Men's Division One
UCD 0 Three Rock Rovers 6 (Ross Canning 2, Pierre de Voux 2, Sven Galjaardt 2)
Three Rock kept their end of the bargain to make the race for the IHL fourth place and the play-off spot go down to the last day as they comfortably beat UCD at Belfield this evening. Ross Canning's reverse and Pierre de Voux's strike had them in a strong position before the students made a decent fist of a full press to earn a few corners and threaten for most of the second quarter.
But they were unable to sustain the pace in the second period as Sven Galjaardt scored a very simple auto-pass goal and then made it 4-0 with a drag-flick. De Voux banged in a simple solo goal before Canning completed the scoring. Mick Maguire required stitches after taking an accidental stick in the face while Gavin Bourke was sin-binned in the final minute for foul language.
Three Rock now need a draw from their final match against Pembroke to guarantee fifth place and can still claim fourth but need a result in their favour. UCD, meanwhile, still need to get a win on Thursday against Railway to confirm their safety.
