England 4 Ireland 4 (Alan Sothern 2, Conor Harte, Peter Caruth)
Paul Revington’s charges concluded their build-up to the World Cup Qualifers with a morale-boosting draw against recently crowned European champions England, denied the win only by Richie Mantell’s late equaliser.
That drag-flick concluded an exceptionally lively second half after an end-to-end first period had finished scoreless.
England took the lead in the 40th minute with a deflection but Conor Harte’s penalty corner tied the game up two minutes later. The Lilleshall hosts rebounded a smart Iain Walker save to restore the lead but Alan Sothern struck in the 50th and 51st minutes to give Ireland the lead for the first time.
England made it even for the third time in the game from a corner but Caruth and Cargo combined to dispossess the English defence inside the 25 with the Annadale man on hand to tap home Ireland’s fourth.
Mantell, though, struck inside the last minute to end a lively affair. Ireland return home today before departing for the World Cup Qualifiers in Argentina on Monday.

If these are uncapped internationals did Lewers and Gleghorne play for England??
Asked the same question myself! Apparently they were not involved nor present at the ground yesterday.
would say they kept them back from a potential hazard. are they training with England. Looks like a terrible move for Gleghorne..his general play would not be good enough and now wngland have one of the best flickers in jackson. Would gleghorne even make Irish line up..who would we drop instead presuming we count him as a forward?
On the otherhand I'd imagine Lewers has enough quality to make it.
were both teams at full strength? why are these not capped and as a matter of interest how is decided whether a match should be capped or not?
To answer part of 4:59's query, I spoke to Iain over the summer who told me he has been training quite a bit with the English squad.
Ireland were not at full strength but, at the moment, I don't have the full English squad to hand.
The following link will answer if they are training with England!!

having seen Iain play a lot in the hoofdklasse i can certain say he'd make the Irish team. he's progressed and immense amount and actually stands out for HGC.
That is a incredible result for the lads. Drawing with the European Champions at Home. Well Done.
England beat Belgium 8-2 in the Europeans. That is a great result. Unlucky to concede so late.
