Revington upbeat ahead of Belgian tie

Ireland coach Paul Revington gave his thoughts (above) to World Hockey in the wake of the 4-1 win over Chile and about what he expects from today's crucial game against Belgium. The match tips off at 7.45pm (Irish time) in Quilmes.

Meanwhile, Pembroke will play Dublin University tonight in a Mills Cup, second round tie brought forward from December 13. The match tips off in Serpentine Avenue at 7.30pm.

Saturday's fixture list, meanwhile sees three men's senior league matches up for decision as Monkstown and Three Rock have brought forward their January 2 tie as both sides were set to be inactive this weekend due to Pembroke and Glenanne's international commitments.

Railway are playing an indoor tournament in Prague and so their tie with YMCA is off.

Upcoming fixtures:
Tuesday: (Mills Cup)Pembroke vs Dublin Uni, 7.30pm, Serpentine Avenue; (World Cup Qualifier) Ireland vs Belgium, 7.45pm, Quilmes
Saturday: (Men's Division One) UCD vs Fingal, 1pm, Belfield; Corinthian vs Clontarf, 1pm, Whitechurch Park; Monkstown vs TRR, 1.30pm, Rathdown

Still haven't been able to find online streaming. As mentioned before, the word from Argentina is that ESPN are filming the games but the website with ESPN Andina's tv schedule has not any mention of hockey on it. If anyone has any other updates, let me know.

Does anyone else think the Leinster League is a joke? The number of postponements during a season is absolutely ridiculous!!!

Having league games on Jan 2nd is a bit much. Can't see the standard of these games being too high unless clubs decide not to take a Christmas break at all. Just an opinion.
Good luck to Ireland tonight, it should be a tight one.

no the league isn't a joke, it was just badly organised this year.

The demands on players now are incredible.

I believe a different poster stated there will be chaos if Ireland qualify for the world cup. I hope they do qualify, but what will happen with all the games.....

Think Monkstown, TRR and Pemb should be applauded though for bringing games forward to help ease what is a potential problem. The div one round-up has a few more thoguhts on this stuff to 2.57

Playing on 2 nd january is a total joke as there is no real break for players this season . It would be better to arrange a midweek game later in season .Were is the duty of care to players from the branch. I feel a claim coming on !!! ouch

If teams want to load up with Irish Internationals then so be it, but dont give them another leg up by postponing their games when the National Team plays. Might encourage teams to promote some youth into the team rather than recruiting from the struggling clubs and overseas.

The league is predictable before the season kicks off each year. Who seriously would want to play in a league that realistically has only 2-3 (at a stretch) teams who have a chance of winning each season?

I didn't realise league games start back up as soon as Jan 2nd, I would expect it for premier league football, not Div 1 Leinster hockey. Must be another free slot somewhere, glad ym have it free.
