* Dublin City FM, on 103.2fm, will be interviewing The Hook on air tonight on their "This Sporting Life" show which runs from 7pm to 7.30pm. For more information on the station, click here.

* In a busy week of awards, three rising stars of the women's game were honoured this week by two major newspapers. On Wednesday, Greenfields midfielder and Irish U-18 international Dora Gorman (right) was named the Irish Times/Irish Sports Council's Sportswoman of the Month for her part in the Republic of Ireland U-17's European football campaign.

The Irish reached the last four - despite being ranked 18th in the continent - getting the better of Turkey, Slovenia and Denmark in first qualifying stages before emerging ahead of Sweden, Ukraine and Poland in the second stage of the competition. They will now play Germany in the semi-finals next month. Gorman is currently a nominee for the IHA youth player of the year award.

Meanwhile, St Andrew's Chloe Watkins and Wesley College's Lauren McGrane (left) were presented this week with their Evening Herald school sports "Stars of the Week" gongs at a ceremony on Tuesday. Watkins earned her award in the wake of Andrew's senior girl's brilliant treble winning run while McGrane was superb in Wesley junior girl's U-16 league final success. Former winner of the award, Luke Fitzgerald was on hand to present.
