YM secure debut IHL place in style

YMCA confirmed their place in the 2010/11 IHL proper in style as they burst out of the blocks at Grange Road this morning and never looked back against a Bandon side who have now missed out on the competition at the wildcard stage three years running.

Four goals in each half did the damage as YM found their shooting range - in direct anteposition to Friday's performance - Luke Chadwick snaffling two chances inside 15 minutes to set the Dubliners on their way. Mikey Fry added an excellent volley to press home the advantage and would later add a corner goal while Andy Walker (pictured) was the third player to bag a double.

Richie Pedreschi scored a second half stroke while Simon Mills scored a drag-flick as part of an emphatic end of season finale for Trevor Dagg's side who can enjoy their summer off with mission accomplished as the seventh Leinster men's side to reach the IHL, joining Saturday qualifiers Lisnagarvey in the competition.

Final IHL Wildcard standings: 1. Lisnagarvey 6pts (+3) 2. YMCA 3pts (+7) 3. Bandon 0pts (-10)
