UCD III retained the Walters Cup last Thursday night at Grange Road, claiming a convincing 5-0 win over Naas marking the perfect end to Conor Doyle’s (pictured with the cup) six-year stint with the Belfield club.
David Meade broke the deadlock inside the first five minutes, slipping the ball home at the near post before Doyle earned a stroke, converted by John McDonnell.
And they were in full control when Scott Baxter deflected home Mark McNulty’s corner sweep to take a 3-0 advantage into the break.
Naas made much of the early running in the second half but when Ridhwan Noordin roofed a fourth with 15 minutes to go, the game was up with Meath man Max Potterton completed the tally late on.
