Women's Division One:
Railway Union 3 (Jean McDonnell, Nikki Evans, Kate McKenna) UCD 1 (Fiona Bradish)
Two late Railway goals ensured they extend an early lead at the top of the division one table, taking advantage of their near rivals interpro-based inactivity.
Jean McDonnell gave her side an early lead from a well worked team move but the students were back on terms by the break with a neatly deflected short corner from Fiona Bradish. UCD probably shaded the first half and were unlucky not to take a lead into the break
Connacht women Rosie Carrigan (UCD) and Sarah McDonald (Railway) both spent time in the sin-bin in a scrappy second half but Nikki Evans got her first goal in Railway colours before Kate McKenna made it a two-goal difference.
Bray 0 Trinity College 1 (Rachel Scott ps)
Given last year's horror start of nine straight defeats, David Bane's Trinity season started in far more optimistic mood in Bray this afternoon as Rachel Scott's first half penalty stroke took the points.
The diminutive midfielder created the chance herself and encouraging performance from newcomers Katie Grehan and Kylie Deverall has hopes looking up on the Santry Avenue.
