Suttonians hold Bray at bay to stay top

Men's Division Two results:
Bray 2 (Simon Cox 2) Suttonians 3 (Reuben Holden 2, David Quinn)
Suttonians kept their unbeaten record but not before enduring a dramatic late Bray fightback which almost nicked their first point of the season. Reuben Holden's double had the northside club well in command at half-time at 2-0, the second from a drag-flick, and when Dave Quinn finished off a fine move involveing Ed Hipwell and Conor Gillett it looked an easy win. But former Monkstown front man Simon Cox banged in a pair of his own to ensure a nervy finish. Suttonians held on and stay top.

Navan 0 Avoca 4 (Stephen Brownlow 3, Jamie Clabburn)
Stephen  Brownlow continued is fine form with his first hat-trick of the season, making it five in two games, as Avoca won a hard-fought battle at King's Hospital against Navan. The Blackrock club, though, look set to be without Scott Wilkie who picked up a red card for a physical tackle on a Navan attacker bearing down on goal and a further two yellow cards were also dished out on the day.

Dublin Uni 1 (Tolly Humphreys) Weston 2 (Shane O'Hare, Daryl Carey)
Daryl Carey shot Weston's second half winner in a high-tempo battle at Grange Road as the Lucan club defended their circle well to deny clear opportunities and took their chances when they came. A neat interchange saw Andy Gray set up Tolly Humphreys for the game's opening goal but the wily Shane O'Hare (pictured celebrating) brought it level soon after. Daire Coady thought he had given Trinity a second half lead with a deflected corner strike but it was denied due to an over eager team-mate encroaching the circle. Weston took full advantage and former Glenanne man Carey nabbed the winner.

Anyone wanna give a new set of predictions? I reckon people might have us higher than 5th now!!!

I presume you will be doing a preview of The All Irelands Schools tournament which starts this week? Excellent round up of Div 1 and 2 fixtures this weekend Stephen - keep up the good work! Good luck to the Leinster schools competing in Cambell College later this week.

Navan hope to play in KH all season, sweet new surface, beats the hell out of the Santry sandpit! Brownlow was great against us, Div 2 beware. Wasn't even that physical of a game but some of the calls were bizarre on both sides.

Would help if you told us who you were....

Suttonians seem to be grinding out the results. Only unbeaten team in the league, although I think they will have to be a little more convincing if they want to win the league. Interesting to see how they fair against Trinity, Weston and Avoca- They will be big 9 pointers this year.

Dont think anyone will run away with the league like Clontarf did last year though which will keep it interesting right the way to the end...

Anyone see the new revised fixture list for Div 2 yet? I saw one but it only included 2 games against each team, the word is that we are playing each team 3 times due to the small number of teams in div 2!

11.30am Suttonians have played Trinity and beaten them this season.

the fixtures for Div 2 are finalised. teams are playing each other 3 times. a draw was done prior to the Leinster branch AGM to see who who get 2 home matches and one away. Dates for the exra fixtures were also agreed (including dates where a club was due to play skerries)

A representative from each div 2 club should have been here and taken down the extra fixtures for your club. These should be wih your match secretary.

Some teams have already played each other twice with the 3rd fixture due later.

Is it possible for the LB to update these fixtures on the LB Website so that it is clear for both players and supporters when and where these extra matches will be played? or im sure Stephen would gladly publish these extra fixtures if they were passed on to him!

Presume the poster who said 'us' was Suttonians player as most predictors had them down for 5th after the first week of fixtures. Few saw Navan (us) as a decent side!

Regarding new KH pitch - after a tiny bit of rain, it turns into an ice rink! nasty!

are there any div 2 matches on this weekend!

I've only been sent Division One fixtures from the Leinster Branch - if you know if there are division two games on, let me know.

As far as I am aware there are no division 2 fixtures until 14th November.

7th Nov is first round of Irish Hockey Trophy so some clubs may be invoved in that

fixtures for 14th Nov are

Avoca v Suttonians
Bray v Navan
Weston v Trinity (I presume as they had a bye for that week and Weston were due to play Skerries)

Not sure why the long break.its a bit of a joke as Div 1 and 3 have fixtures for each weekend.

Makes it difficult to arrnage friendlies as well, unless you want to play a team in the same league....

No Div 2 games for next two weeks
