Bray came within 15 seconds of picking up a famous point at Beaufort on Saturday but were denied by Nikki Symmons' penalty stroke with virtually the last act of the game. With four of Ireland's internationals returning for the first time since the European championships, neither side was able to break the deadlock in a first half where Bray defended Loreto's attacks well.

Lizzie Colvin, however, broke Mary Good's line with a crashing short corner strike, from a switch left, but Cathy Brock levelled with 15 minutes to go, rebounding from Grania Howe's shot after Catherine Murray and Linda O'Neill combined well from a long corner. But, with the game in its final minute, Cathy McKean burst into the circle and was fouled. A penalty corner was initially awarded but, on consultation, it was upgraded to a penalty stroke which the returning Nikki Symmons (left) despatched to take the points.
