Jacqui Potter Cup - first round
Three Rock Ladies 1 (Suzanne Mellon) Hermes 6 (Anna O'Flanagan 2, Jenny Burke, Aoife Harte, Sarah Greene, Niamh Atcheler)
Hermes were made to work hard for their place in the second round of the Jacqui Potter Cup as they were held 1-1 at half-time at Grange Road by division two's Three Rock Ladies before pulling clear in the second half. Aoife Harte opened the scoring from a corner move as TRL defended stoutly in the face of an onslaught before Suzanne Mellon completed a corner switch following a counter-attack to leave the side's level at half-time.
Jenny Burke's goal early in the second half proved crucial and a double from Anna O'Flanagan made the game safe. Niamh Atcheler (pictured) was also on the mark while Sarah Greene - playing against her former club - scored her first senior goal to notch up the half-dozen.
The tie was brought forward from Sunday when four other opening round ties will be up for decision. Corinthian face Loreto in the only all-division one tie.
