Women's Leinster Division One
Trinity 1 (Eanna Horan) Glenanne 2 (Marie Goulding, Ciara Nugent)
Glenanne recorded their second win of the season to jump off the bottom rung of the standings into eighth place as they recovered from a half-time deficit to beat Trinity 2-1 in Santry this afternoon. The students went 1-0 up against the run of play in the first half but Marie Goulding levelled the game in the second period from Dearbhla Kieran's assist. And Ciara Nugent proved the match-winner when she finished off a corner variation. The Glens absorbed some late pressure but held on to move ahead of Bray and Pembroke in the table.
UCD 4 (Kerry McComish 3, Rosie Carrigan) Bray 2 (E Willis, J Carey)
The students took advantage of their rivals inactivity to begin their double-weekend in style with a cruching 4-2 over Bray with Kerry McComish's corner prowess the key factor. She struck twice in the first half - one direct, the other as part of a sweetly worked move - while the Ulster woman's shot rebounded to Rosie Carrigan for 3-0 at half-time. It was one of their most accomplished halves of hockey this season but the second period was a slightly scrappier affair. Bray pulled one back but McComish completed her hat-trick from a volleyed rebound at yet another corner to stretch the lead out. Bray pulled another one back but were never truly in striking distance.
