I heard a rumour Ireland were invited to play in the Azlan Shah this year, surely accepting invitations to big world hockey events like this would help to improve the squad and possibly their current world ranking should they perform well?

congrats to Ray also, another big event for the CV.Would be great to see umpires like ciaran bolger get a look in for these tournaments, definitely good enough

Just a quick point on that, the SAS does not currently count toward world ranking points.

Only the World Cup, Olympics, Champions Trophy and Challenge, and Continental championships count in that regard.
