Men's Division Two preview

The hotly anticipated top-of-the-table encounter between Skerries and Clontarf is the highlight in division two this weekend as the league's best attack fronts up to the best defence.

The scoring form of Ali McMahon and Alan Early, aided by the odd goal chipped in from Ronan Gannon, saw Skerries hit the front before Christmas though their surprise 2-1 turnover by Navan means Clontarf hold all the aces.

Three points back but two games in hand and home advantage at the Bullring gives Clontarf plenty of motivation and, under Harrold de Jong this term, they have shown plenty of organisation in beating two division one sides in the Mills Cup.

They did, however, suffer friendly defeats at the hands of Monkstown and Railway Union earlier this week which may serve as a wake-up call.

Elsewhere, third-placed Bray could profit from a slip-up from either side, though they have swapped venues due to a floodlight problem in Loreto, Bray and now play out in Santry.

Trinity, meanwhile, could yet be reinstated into the Mills Cup despite their 7-1 defeat to Corinthian as the Leinster Branch investigates a potential registration issue over the involvement of Darren Kimfley and Andrew Cronje.

The final game of Saturday sees Kildare face Meath at Caragh Road with Naas hosting Navan with both sides eager to move away from the bottom of the division. Suttonians game with Avoca has been postponed due to Irish Hockey Trophy commitments.

Match Schedule (Saturday)
Dublin University vs Bray, 1pm, Santry; Naas vs Navan, 1pm, Caragh Road; Clontarf vs Skerries, 2pm, Mount Temple

Say that'll be a very close game between clontarf and skerries. Trinity v Bray could be interesting too. Predict a narrow win for clontarf and a draw in trinity

just so we know the friendly loss that Clontarf suffered was against Monkstown 2nds. just an off day i'm sure for what seems an organised, determined side.

Clontarf's attacking style would be enjoyable to watch in division 1. it would make a change to UCD or Kilkenny.

Skerries to extend lead at the top, Class of the skerries attack should shine through! Should change the name of the tarf pitch to ''The Icering'' in light of its pronness to freezing!!!!

kilkenny are trying their best with the resources they have no need to make a cheap kibe about a team that in competitive action would take clontarf I am pretty sure..

If you mean exciting as in getting thumped 9-2 week in week out then yes it would make a change to ucd or kilkenny
