Arul Anthoni brings his Old Alex side to St Mark's on Saturday afternoon to face Glenanne - the female version of the men's side he currently trains - in an effort to jump back into a tie for third place.

The game has been brought forward two weeks with both sides getting a bye in the Irish Senior Cup. Elsewhere, Pembroke and UCD have a double weekend as they play a back-match from before Christmas on Sunday afternoon.

Division One:
(Saturday) Glenanne vs Old Alex, 12pm, St Mark's
(Sunday) UCD vs Pembroke, 4pm, Belfield

Can't see past Old Alex for this one. Glenanne have preformed above my expectations so far this year but I don't think they have what it takes to defeat this Alex side.

4-4 was the end result. Glens came from 2-0 to be winning 3-2 back to 3 all.Alex up 4-3 and Glens scored in the last minute to draw 4 all.

Can't see past Alex no???........

Well with the value of hindsight I can see past Alex.
Still a very suprising result though.

I think the anonymous Glenanne begrudger should put a name to their post. Glenanne have suprised a lot of people but why put them down. We should be happy a more competitive team has come up to Div 1 to give us more of a game. Well done Glennane.

As I said previously, I can now see past Alex with the value of hindsight. Before the game I was quite confident of an Alex victory. The same way a lot of people couldn't see past Arsenal in the Hull or Stoke games earlier this year.
There's surprise results in every sport every season.

They were simply making a prediction which they got wrong, and then apologised for. What's the problem? The odds are always going to be against a team that has just moved up to division 1. You can't continue to be annoyed by this. Just be happy you're doing so well, a clear sign of hard work, so well done. Don't ruin it for yourselves...

In fairness... Glenanne set their stall out early in the season with a victory over Pembroke in the Jaqui Potter cup - so there's no need to be too surprised. Glenanne are settling in nicely at Senior level and if they can keep this squad together, should give a lot of senior teams a run for their money over the next few seasons.

If you leave a comment predicting a result which turns out to be very wrong, you leave yourself open to criticism. Simple as that! But why do people assume that comments in support of Glennane's sucess comes from a Glennane member?? They have surprised alot of people this season, and deserve some recognition for that.

Also Glens did draw 1-1 with Alex earlier in season, so not really a surprise result. Maybe 4-4 might be the only surprise(i.e. so many goals), but would never think that Alex were guareenteed the win.
