UCD 4 (Rob Lynch 3, Robbie McFarlane) Glenanne 4 (Eddie O'Malley 2, Johnny Goulding, Gary Shaw)
Glenanne's title aspirations were left in tatters as Rob Lynch's hat-trick of drag-flicks means the only method the Glens can win the title is on a play-off, precipitated only by victory over Three Rock on Saturday and a Pembroke loss to Monkstown.
For UCD, the result was an immense confidence booster - even against a side shorn of Stephen Butler, Graham Shaw, Joe Brennan, Steven Doran and Paul Fitzpatrick - with many of the students getting their first ever senior result against the Glens.
Lynch opened the scoring with his first flick but Johnny Goulding's deflection at corner time made it 1-1. Robbie McFarlane and Lynch restored the lead on two further occasions at 2-1 and 3-2 but two equalisers from Eddie O'Malley had the game back in the balance.
Brendan Parsons saw his stroke fly wide but Gary Shaw's stunning effort - running fully 40 metres before pinging in a reverse - looked to have grabbed a win. However, Lynch had other ideas and grasped a point from the fire.
It means Pembroke are now within a point of their second trophy of the week while Glenanne now have a serious tussle with Rovers on Saturday. None of Leinster's big three lost at home in the IHL and second place guarantees three home fixtures in next year's competition - making it a definite cherry to reach for. Butler, Shaw and Doran look set to return for that game.
For UCD, it means a draw is of no use to Kilkenny on Saturday against YMCA who have, as of tonight, confirmed they will travel at full strength.

fantastic match! well done UCD.. heart stopping stuff!!
Bloody Oiks, come on the Cats!
Have to say, I didn't see that result coming no matter who the Glens rested.
Glens taking UCD for granted by the looks of things.
Well done to the students. Great result.
Glens didnt take anyone or granted! UCD were just great!
lynchy finished his hat trick wit a fantastic flick high down the right to draw the game!
Would have been nice to get a picture of Rob with the article. But in fairness he just isn't as photogenic as Ben!
"Glens didnt take anyone or granted! UCD were just great!"
UCD certainly were not great. Glenanne were just very poor. They only had about three players who showed up.
glens missd an open goal, penalty stroke, 5 or 6 corners, ucd were poor.
if ucd were poor then glenanne were just as poor
yes as pointed out before wit missin open goal penalty etc etc.
What open goal did Glenanne miss?
Really trivial arguement here as it doesn't really matter who did what, it finished 4-4, no point hiding behind missing short corners etc.
Also don't see how glens missing an open goal constitutes a good point for UCD not playing well, as far as i'm aware missing an open goal means nothing.
Stop bickering.
Why cant people give credit where its due the studenst played the best that Glenanne had available on the night and got a draw why take away from that by making excuses
Not trying to take away form UCD.
But saying UCd played well is incorrect, they just caught the Glens on a very good day without their goalie, sweeper and corner specialist.
it doesnt matter who was poor and who wasnt poor. UCD got a great result. well done!
just the point about the glens resting players.....butler and shaw are on international duty....brennan has a damaged knee...fitzer has muscle problems in his back...and doran has a broken finger!!!hardly resting players is it???
Come on the college....nuff said...
