Pembroke picked up their second win of the men's EuroHockey Club Trophy thanks to a goal in each half against Akademischer HTC Wien to win 2-0 and all but assure themselves a place in the final game. Alan Sothern and Tim Lewis were on the mark.
They did so despite picking up three yellows to the Austrian side's one, with Craig Fulton, Tim Lewis and Maurice Elliott all spending time in the bin before Lewis made the game safe at 2-0 in the 63rd minute.
They play the group's bottom placed side Dinamo Olimpik VSM from Ukraine tomorrow at 4pm needing just a draw to advance.
In Lille, Pegasus won 5-0 against Penarth in their opening group game and will now face Victorya Smolevichi to see who tops the group. They are, however, guaranteed a shot at promotion as they are assured a top two placing in the three-team group which leads to a play-off on Monday.
The goals were shared around with Suzanne Beaney, Grace Irwin, Arlene Boyles, Claire McMahon and Michelle Harvey.
