With just one round of matches left to go in the regular season, it would take a minor miracle for Alan Sothern to be denied the Hennessy Cup for division one's top scorer. The Pembroke hitman currently leads the way with 31 league goals, nine clear of Monkstown's Gareth Watkins on 22.
Ireland's top goalscorer, and multiple winner of this award, Stephen Butler has 15 goals in the league though has been hamstrung by the limit imposed on his appearances on the domestic front while Jacob Webber scored 14 in 12 league games to date since arriving from Australia.
Youngsters Shane O'Donoghue and Brian Doherty tie for fifth with 12 league goals each with Fingal's Mick McGuinness seventh - tied with Dave Bane - in the chart despite missing a large chunk of the season to injury.
In the overall reckoning, including league, Neville Cup, Mills Cup, ISC, IHL and European competition, Sothern has 53 goals, 18 clear of Watkins. Peter Blakeney has been saving most of his goals for games outside the league with 23 coming in 15 cup or IHL matches compared to seven in the league, to be the third highest scorer in all competitions.
Butler (29) is fourth, Doherty (21) in fifth and O'Donoghue sixth in his breakout season with 19 goals.

Well done Alan, absolutely on fire this year!
Doherty has 28 it's on the Chc website.
In response to April 15, 2009 5:48 PM, I believe, though I stand to be corrected, that several of those goals were for the seconds this year.
Not quite Ulster Senior 1 - two players from North Down and Newry are on over 60 each!
Yeah, few seconds goals in there for Brian Doherty alright.
Good season though...CHC 2s one week, Ireland A the next!!!
Keep up the good work Brian.
Pure Pembroke Class!!!!!!!!
who is div 2's top scorer?
Gotta be that Rob Abbott dude from Clontarf.
Quite a few hat-tricks this season and when he wasn't getting them, he was getting 1 or 2, week-in week-out...
Congrats Alan!!
