Women's Division One: Trinity 0 Railway Union 2

Trinity 0 Railway Union 2 (Kate McKenna, Jean McDonnell)

With little for either team to play, Railway Union gave debuts to three of their 'futures' group against Trinity on Thursday night. Jenny Maguire (16), Orla Macken and Kate Lloyd (both 15) lined out for the league champions with captain Isobel Joyce and Emma Smyth - on Ireland duty - stepping out.

As such, a light-hearted game saw the sides go in at 0-0 at half-time before Kate McKenna (pictured) broke the deadlock and Jean McDonnell cracked in her 25th goal of the season.

Trinity finish their season in ninth place whilst it means Railway will have an outright lead rather than recourse to the 'games won' ruling ahead of their final league tie against Loreto.

Meanwhile, UCD's pair of fixtures have been moved again to accommodate the U-21 interpros. They now play Pembroke on Thursday, April 23 and Hermes on Wednesday, April 29.

Oh grow up - give credit where credit is due - Railway won the league and its great to see a new name on the trophey - you don't have to play for Hermes or Loreto to win a senior league - Railway have been underdogs for years and have battled on and they deserve it
