Galway win Women's Indoor Cup

The women's indoor cup will be travelling west this evening as Galway triumphed at the National Basketball Arena. They raced into a 3-0 lead within 10 minutes against Railway Union with Evan Murphy netting twice and Grainne Black once.

Railway - coached on the day by Great Britain player, Kevin King - fought back to 3-2 by the break with two Emer Lucey goals but were unable to break down the Connacht team's defence in the second half.

Jean McDonnell had the best of the chances, hitting the post from a penalty stroke and Tara Browne was impressive in the Galway goal. She conceded just once in the quarter and semi-final.
