Loreto 1 (Sarah Scott) Pembroke 1 (Siobhan Kane)
One of the most exciting leagues in recent years took its most decisive turn this afternoon.
A result which only really benefits Hermes, Pembroke can now only win the league with a massive win to overhaul the goal difference deficit. Loreto, meanwhile, are on the verge of elimination from this season's Club Championships. After Pembroke's bright start, Loreto ended the first half stronger but saw their best chance - Niamh Small's penalty stroke - saved by Siobhan Burke.
Pembroke, though, took the lead, barely 45 seconds into the second half. It came from the penalty spot after a goalmouth scramble hit a foot. Siobhan Kane made no mistake. Loreto, again, looked the more dangerous, with Nikki Keegan, Zara Delany and Small working well around the back-line.
Their equaliser, though, came from more direct play. Orla Ryan's bashed free hit from the left midfield area, was deflected home by Sarah Scott from the edge of the box with the spin her touch gave the ball deceiving Burke.
Trinity 1 Railway Union 5 (Caitlin Friel, Sinead Dooley, Sinead Walsh, Cathy Kenefick, Katie Evans)
Railway's young charges moved ahead of Loreto on goal difference in the late match, inflicting a four successive heavy defeat on Trinity. The win sees Mick McKinnon's charges into the Club Championships as the expense of either Pembroke or Loreto.
