Leinster U-16s stand in pole position after the first day of the interpros in Shawsbridge as they hammered Munster 5-0 - a side that had earlier beaten Ulster 1-0. Stephen Nolan opened the scoring after just 80 seconds after a stunning run by Sutton Park's Mark Ryan.
Ryan doubled up from a penalty corner and David Cole - one of the game's outstanding players - made it three, again from a set-piece. Fiachra Maher and Tom Samuel completed the rout, the latter's a superlative individual effort.
Earlier, Munster picked up a surprise 1-0 win over Ulster thanks to Bandon's Ben Scott's goal after some staunch defending after soaking up a huge amount of pressure.
In the U-18 competition, Ulster have the initiative after day one as the only unbeaten side remaining. They opened up with a 2-0 win over Munster thanks to Stephen Dowds penalty corner double.
Leinster began their campaign with a performance that disappointed the coaching duo of Miles Warren and Andy McConnell. They started in good form, Andy Shekleton diving on to Jamie Tobin's reverse-stick cross for a stunning opener - Tobin was set free down the left by Cian Speers great ball from left back.
Thereafter, the sides excahnged a corner apiece but after the break the Leinster boys failed to stick to their game plan and came unstuck by a more spirited Munster side. Malcolm Coombes equalised and Leinster were soon thankful to Stephen West who saved from Karl Lynch's penalty stroke.
No matter for Munster, as Fionn O'Leary bagged a late winner. Leinster had a chance to pull a draw out of the fire with a final-hooter corner but to no avail.

leinster had their best performance of the interpros over the fist two days. They played to a levelnot many people have seen in an U16 interprovincial tournament well done lads!!!!
