Irish Hockey Trophy results

Suttonians were the only side to emerge victorious from their Irish Hockey Trophy second round match, beating Portadown 3-2 on what was a tough day for Leinster sides.

Bray and Skerries both lost their unbeaten records for the season, losing 5-1 to Antrim and NICS respectively. Weston were another casualty, losing 3-0 to Limerick side Catholic Institute.

Ulster are the dominant force this year in this inaugural competition with five sides left in the competition, two Munster and one Leinster.

On the women's side, Leinster sides fared much better with Rowland Rixon-Fuller's Muckross side handsome 5-2 winners over Omagh, Three Rock beat Galway's Greenfields 3-2 in Dangan, Genesis kept their winning run going with a 4-1 away to Skerries while Newbridge beat Ballyclare.

North Kildare were unlucky in Tyrone, losing out to Cookstown on strokes while Clontarf were edged out by Wexford. Catholic Institute were too strong for Suttonians, 7-1 the final reckoning.

Civil Service were very good and could of won by more. We didn't play well at all on the day but can't take it away from civil service who are a very fast attacking team with skillful players in every position. They are a young well drilled team.
