Men's Division One preview

With the international series against Scotland and the boy's Interprovincials, this weekend sees just one surviving game as the bottom two fight it out in Kilkenny. UCD and the Cats were the victims of the two biggest defeats of the league campaign in the past week at the hands of Pembroke but it is in this kind of battle that their season's will be defined.

Kilkenny's ability to target fixtures against those around them kept them well clear of relegation lats year and their 5-2 win over Railway shows they are aiming for similar this term. Railway, though, have picked up an unlikely four points putting more pressure on Kilkenny. Losing Brian Gray to Fingal was a tough blow, increasing the pressure on the old heads of Gary Sharman, Hugh Kelly and Stephen Thompson.

For UCD, scoring goals has been the problem in the league and was made more difficult by Robbie McFarlane's absence on Tuesday. Ben Grogan and Stephen O'Keeffe have been their top performers in defence but they need to start firing up front after just three goals in five attempts.

Kilkenny v UCD, 2.45pm, Kilkenny College
