YMCA claim Railway Cup

YMCA II got a tangible reward for their top season as they beat Three Rock Rovers II 4-1 at Serpentine Avenue. Man-of-the-match Luke Chadwick got the ball rolling with a neat reverse before Richie Miles doubled the lead.

Ross Varian pulled one back from a corner rebound but Charlie Carroll scored against his old club to make it 3-1 before Phil Powderly completed the scoring.

Great win for YM, to come home with a cup in the centinery year of the club. They had a great season, and were only one point off the league in the end. They had a great season and apart from a bad spell of 3 games they would have won the double!!

watched the this game and the 1st divison play-off, it really shows that there is a massive diffence in div 1, both YM 2's and TRR 2's would have beaten UCD and Bray "comfortably, there is a lot to be said for 2nd's teams to be in the second division

they would have won the double "pah" all the teams can look at dropped points and say the same. They're a good side but they lost to Monkstown twice in the league!

And credit where credit is due - well done Monkstown on the League - they and Corinthians were the best team over the course of the season as the table doesnt lie. They were well organized from the off in October and as a result had points in the bag when we had to play catch up. The barrier has been set high for 2nds hockey and will be raised again next year as YM, Glens, TRR, Monkstown, Corinthians and Pembroke will all be stronger....
