Phelie Maguire struck in the final minute of KHC Leuven's EHL's KO16 tie with Beeston, rounding George Pinner to fire home, copper-fastening a 3-1 win over England's Beeston. It was the former Three Rock man's fourth goal of the competition as the Belgian club now await the winner of East Grinstead and Amsterdam in Sunday's KO8 tie.
Mitch Darling also lined out but was sin-binned in the 34th minute with Leuven 1-0 down. However, three second half goals turned the game on its head with Darling picking up the assists for the second and third goals.
In other Irish involvement, Chris Cargo was one of Reading's best performers against Polo de Barcelona though they became the second English club to bow out of the competition inside a two hour period, losing 2-1. Ulster man Warren McCully is on the umpire's roster.
