Muckross firsts bounced back up to division two in style as they won the division three title without losing a single match this term, wrapping up the title a fortnight ago when they won 4-1 in Bray (pictured).
Coached by Gordon Watkins, they managed to hold off the intentions of Our Lady’s to take the title with a game to spare with November’s 2-1 win over the Terenure club the vital result. Thereafter, the top two matched each other virtually result for result, tying 1-1 in a key tie at the start of March.
For the Teresian-based school, it proved the inspiration for the club for whom the seconds and thirds have also breached the top two in their division.
Our Lady’s, captained by Danielle Byrne and coached by Victor Shaw, took the second promotion spot courtesy of some incredible shooting from Sinead Kelly who struck a massive 44 goals this season from the side’s 59 in all competitions.
* If you have any info on how your club teams from women's divisions four to fourteen fared, please email stevie_findlats@yahoo.com. I will be putting together a round-up of the winners and promotion-winning teams on the site in the next three days but the extent of coverage depends on how much info is contributed.
