YMCA women in line for second treble

YMCA claimed Division 6 on Wednesday night with a hard fought 1-0 win against Newbridge II, taking their fourth consecutive league title with two games to spare.

As a result, the club remains on course for a third successive treble following last year’s Irish Hockey Challenge, league and cup success as they face Clontarf on April 10 in the division 5/6 decider.

The club is currently in the midst of a two-year unbeaten run, adding this league success to their Challenge success in March. It’s very much a family affair with sisters Tara,Sian and Aimee Powderly lining out, father Robin managing and brother Will holding the coach’s clipboard.

Powered by midfield boss Helen Keane, Lynn Jenkinson – daughter of former Irish international, Tom – at sweeper and captained by Emily Bradshaw (pictured, receiving the IHC crown), they continue their meteoric rise since forming four years ago.

Muckross II take the second promotion place following the defeat of Newbridge in midweek by the Y.
