The clearest of memories from last season will probably always drift to the final day of the Leinster Senior League campaign at Serpentine Avenue and the nervy, enthralling 3-3 draw that gave Rovers the title ahead of Pembroke.
The players may remember the Club Championships final and while that league match may not have proved as important as the All Ireland crown, the Leinster league seems much more immediate.
And so the countries top two return to lock horns on Saturday (2pm) in an early six-pointer in the title race. Throughout their quadruple run last year, it is interesting to note Rovers only managed ot topple Pembroke in normal time in the Neville Cup final, losing 4-1 at home to a Justin Sherriff inspired side.
Three Rock go into the game with a full squad, welcoming back Belgium-based Phelie Maguire for the weekend while Irish captain Ronan Gormley sits out the game with a shin complaint.
What could prove decisive, though, is the lack of competitive pitch time Pembroke have enjoyed this season following the Neville Cup controversy and UCD's week of grace. Rovers have yet to get much rhythm going but at least have a starting block to work from.
Elsewhere, Corinthian host injury-stricken YMCA at 12pm in Whitechurch Park with John McInroy looking to bounce back after their loss to Fingal. He described all the problems from last week as "managables", and is confident they can get back on course this week.
Fingal, meanwhile, make the tricky journey to Kilkenny (2pm).
