Women's Division One: UCD 2 Trinity 1

UCD 2 (Lisa Jacob, Rosie Carrigan) Trinity 1 (Katie O'Byrne)

UCD won the first colours battle of the season at Belfield this evening, deservedly edging out Trinity. All the goals came in a frantic, first half. Irish international Lisa Jacob (pictured) opened the scoring with a brilliant reverse stick effort after being fed by Rosie Carrigan.
The latter turned from provider to scorer for the second from a short-corner as the IHL-bound side showed their superiority.

But the young Trinity outfit fought back through Katie O'Byrne to bring it back to 2-1. The second half produced a much more controlled performance from both sides, easing into a more controlled rhythm. Chances were fewer, though, with the ball staying mainly between the 25s with UCD enjoying most of the possession to hold on comfortably and move into the top three.
