Corinthian 2 (Brian Doherty, John McInroy) Pembroke 2 (Alan Sothern, Tim Lewis)
Corinthian showed once again they can mix it with the big boys on their day as they prevented Pembroke from taking all three points at Whitechurch Park tonight. They led 2-1 with 16 minutes to go before Tim Lewis deflected in to tie the game up.
Corinthian hit the front thanks to goals from Brian Doherty from a penalty corner and John McInroy getting a good deflection against his former club while Alan Sothern potted another corner. In a high tempo game, the hosts showed they have enough ability to break the top five but need to start pulling results out against the likes of Monkstown and Fingal.
Draws at home with Glenanne and this one have both come with good performances yet they still find themselves languishing in the bottom half. Pembroke did have a couple of late chances, with three corners late on but a draw was probably a fair result.

a few notes as a looker oner-the pitch was frozen
Anyone know who is coaching the leinster U.21s this year.
why no word from LB re this fixture, nothing on RTE Aertel, nothing in Press.Another mess and incompetence from someone
You say it was frozen but how do you REALLY know it was frozen?
I mean did anyone write their initials or MORE specifically the word 'Frozen!' with an old hockey stick and take a picture? Cus i once heard of this guy like that totally did that before...no kidding.
So until I see such irrefutable evidence I wont buy that for a minute! In fact it should be standard practice before makeing such claims...
Yeah talked to the umpires after and they stated the pitch at one point did begin to freeze but didn't freeze over like previous nights etc...Good game over all and good chances for both sides...
Pitches in trr were closed so can't imagine chc was fit to hold a match let alone training. Super result for chc and well deserved!
Didn't look too closely!, I went on to the pitch after the game and it wasn't frozen at all, much to my surprise. Umpie Graham Caulwell did slip once, but that was on the wet paving slabs at the pitch end. I don't recall any player slipping unintentionally.
As for the comment above about nothing in the press about this, I saw this fixture on the LB website a week ago or so but forgot to post it.

Overall a fair result. Pembroke had more posession but in terms of chances it was pretty much even!
chc are very very dangerous with short corners, tim lewis saved of the line could of being a foot only he knows though! Good game to watch end to end!
The game is all about shortcorners these days isnt it? If you ask me they should be scrapped.Or the rules altered.Any team with a class dragflicker can win games. It shouldnt be like that.
Im not sure about the above comment in relation to last night's match. Both teams got 1 goal each from shortcorners and 1 goal each from open play.
i agree, look at rovers, there drag flick is not at butler or sotherns standard and they didnt seem handycapped in europe.
Thought the two umpires, but in particular Geoff Conn, had great games last night, their foresight and decision making at times sets a standard that all umpires should strive to achieve
Pembroke were not at the races last night.
CHC did well to make the most of the opportunity!
Ha when was the last time a non international scored for pembroke....becoming slightly dependent perhaps!!
Pembroke member!
Hold on. Are sothern and Darling going to be restricted to 14 games now?? What about Joe brennan aswell? would of thought with them being full internationals now it would be enforced. either that or take away the restrictions?
Andrew Groves is probably the best umpire
darling already was in the 14 games i think
14 games rule is supposed to be based on how much the players played last year so wouldn't really effect those mentioned

seems to clarify the situation, though I think the gk's walker and Harte have been made exempt
dont think its much of a problem if pembroke are becoming slightly dependent on their internationals...especially with the amount of them on the team. if its a problem its one many teams in the league would love to have
dohertys flick was good.
