Glenanne have announced their squad for the EuroHockey Club Trophy in Paris on March 20 to 23. They are in a group with Grasshoppers (Sui), Slavia Praha (Cze) and Kolos Sekoia (Ukr), the side Harlequins beat in the Cup Winners Cup final last year.The tournament is the first of its kind, as a kind of second tier of European competition for the EuroHockey league. A good performance by Glenanne in the competition could see a second Irish side into Europe's premier tournament.

Best of Luck to the Glen's. It's certainly within their power to make it to the final, where I imagine the French will be their opposition.
This will certainly get Ireland valuable ranking points for the 2008/2009 EHL but unfortunately as Pembroke were knocked out at the 1st round stage, I don't think it will be enough to move us from 10th into 8th (above Scotland & France) as clubs from both those countries progressed to the 2nd Round of EHL competition.
But on the other hand we shouldn't drop below Switzerland and Austria, so at least we'll have an EHL place for next year!!
