Hermes proved too strong for surprise finalists Trinity to claim the Leinster senior cup for the third time in four years. It ended 3-1 but could have been more but for heroics from Ciara Rowe in the student's goal and a determined defensive effort.
Youngsters Nikki Evans and Anna O'Fanagan provided the main threat up front throughout and Liane Costello was to profit in the 10th minute. She opened the scoring, with O'Flanagan assisting.
Rowe was not to be beaten again until the second half, pulling off five high quality saves. Hermes dominated midfield with Trinity's most illustrious alumnus, Linda Caulfield, and Jenny Osbourne on top.
Fiona Connery's short corner strike doubled the score in the 47th minute before Osbourne sealed the win soon after following Evans' good work. Trinity fought back with Ciara Murphy working hard in midfield with Claire Hearnden and they got their reward, Lindsay Watson converting their first meaningful attack.
