Men's Round-Up

Sunday: Glenanne 1 (Eddie O'Malley) Pembroke 1 (John McInroy)

The clash of titans met at St Marks for a lively match that produced a result that gave neither side a definitive benefit in the title race. John McInroy opened the scoring with a tap-in at the back post before Eddie O'Malley was on target at the second phase of a penalty corner. Pembroke move a point clear of Rovers while Glenanne are six points off second place.

Saturday: Bray 0 TRR 8
Three Rock cruised through their visit to Bray, who have now conceded 98 goals in their 14 games. Rovers have a huge test next week against Glenanne while they still have Pembroke to play on the final day of the season.

UCD 0 Corinthian 2
Fingal 3 YMCA 2
Monkstown 4 Kilkenny 1
In the mini-league for fourth place, Corinthian, Monkstown and Fingal are all in with a shout but Monkstown are well-placed. Corinthian still have the top three to play while Monkstown's win last Thursday is key to creating some distance ahead of Fingal before their visit to Serpentine Avenue next week.

Does anyone know the format for next year for both the teams that make the AIL and those that don't. Seems like a secret. Is the leinster league still going ahead? Nobody knows.

My understanding... although yet to be confirmed is that the AIL and Provincial Leagues will run concurrently.

There will be designated weekends that are set aside only for AIL matches where there is no provincial match schedules and these weekends will involve probably 2 matches for each AIL club over the weekend.

The AIL clubs will also then be competing in their respective provincial leagues

Queso, is there any funding in the pipeline for the clubs and the players to refund the extra travel expenses?

PG,

I don't believe so, the AIL will be set up in two groups of 6 (4 from Leinster, 4 from Ulster, 2 from Munster, 2 additional playoff wildcards)

The idea suggested is that on one weekend you might head to Ulster to play matches against the Ulster teams in one location, on another weekend you'll head down to Munster and finally host a weekend in one location in Leinster.

Trying to consolidate matches in a single venuw so total travel is reduced. ie you're only having to travel once to Munster and once to Ulster.

This is actually a similar amount of additional travel experienced compared to the original All-Ireland Quarter-Final home and away matches followed by the 4-team Finals.
