Ireland lost out to Great Britain this morning for the second time this weekend as part of their preparations for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament at this end of April.
Ireland started well, their first serious attack coming in the seventh minute. McDonough fed an excellent ball to Flinn in the circle but her shot couldn't connect fully.
Emma Clarke showed some magic to weave through Britain 's defence but her final pass drifted wide over the back line.
Britain, too, had their opportunities. In the 20th minute Alex Danson was on hand for a deflection which went high and wide before a great double save from Mary Goode kept it scoreless at the break.
GB’s persistence eventually paid off in the 47th minute when a melee in the circle lead to a soft goal by Laura Bartlet to give the visitors the lead. Me Clewlow’s straight shot doubled the advantage eight minutes laeter.
Lisa Jacob pulled one back for Ireland after a good advantage was played but GB’s two-goal advantage was restored when Danson scored with seven minutes left.
Commenting after the game Muller was content with how the weekend and match had gone "I was pleased with our performance and effort out there today. It was a similar performance to yesterday's match and overall this series against GB has been very useful for us. We are now managing to play against tough opposition for longer periods in defensive and attacking modes.
"I will be making my selection next week for the Olympic Qualifiers and then next weekend we will be playing the French at home. We will be spending quality time together as a team planning for the tournament."
