would i b right in saying that high school have as many irish trialists as wesley. are times changing?

Maybe not as quickly as you would think but definitely improving in last few years. St Columbas and Mount Temple are coming again. High School have made great strides. Sutton Park have been close by for a number of years thanks to Colin Stewart. Kings Hospital are rebuilding. Kilkenny punch above their weight given all their hassles with personnel and transport. Wesley and Andrews have a stranglehold but no one is giving up just yet. Times are not changing just developing.

jonny ames not in the 18's.....an absolute joke.....this decision is simply RIDICULOUS....shows the bias towards leinster players these days........

EXCUSE ME! WHERE IS RICHARD SYKES!?!?

Anonymous said...

times aren't changing you obviously haven't noticed that Wesley have 4 under 16 trialists whereas High School have none

U16: Tom Samuel, David McCrea, Shane Madeley, Jonathan Lewis, Robert Burke.
U18: Daniel Gribben, Kyle Good.

Have High School got anyone bar Josh and Shane?

Anonymous said...

it must be the coaching staff they have there

Anonymous said...

Using two sticks.. thats class! He should definitely make the team

Richard Magown, Jonathan Ames and Karl Lynch?

None of them showed any signs of being good enough for the national team this year, Doenst mean there arent good players all the same

Anonymous said...

it looks like the team must be already nearly decided.a lot of big players not getting trial - especially in leinster!

Jon Ames and Karl Lynch are far better than some of those players that got selected,I have watched Cookstown play the Irish schools and previous years and he has been excellent as for Karl Lynch,He was Bandons best player at the Irish schools this year and him and Stuart O'Grady ran the show for Munster!!!Your obviously not watching the same game as everyone else anonymous or just stuck in your Leinster head how Leinster are so great!!!Wise up and get your eyes checked!!!

Saw Karl Lynch play against Ulster and Leinster in Instonions.Thought he was very good with great vision on the ball. One of Munsters best players by far( non munster supporter)

so what r the odds 4 the schools cup this year?

Anonymous said...

i'd say andrews-evens, wesley 5-1, sutton and high school 10-1, kilkenny 12-1, kings hos 50-1

I thought Karl Lynch was fantastic this year. Its a wonder he wasn't chosen for selection. Same applies to Jonathan Ames. His performance at the weekend really didn't reflect his ability. I didn't really notice Richard Magowan throughout the tournament, but other than that he's always been very solid for school and club. Sykes also very narrowly missed selection, as I thought he had a good weekend for Leinster. I thought some of the Leinster players were hard done by while bigger players on the same squad who didn't show their class at the weekend got chosen instead.

Its unbelievable how your name can get you places. A lot of the Ulster players also hard done by as I feel the fact that they ran out winners would see them with more trialists. Anthoni and Jackson have really shot themselves in the foot this year I think. I think scouts should go into a tournament with a blank page rather than a list of recommendations from a number of sources. If that was the case I think there would be a lot of difference in the names shown above.

If we want to progress hockey especially munster hockey which appears to be dying,we must give their best players trials.Karl Lynch is class ,much better than some of players who got trials from what i saw at u18s.He was one of munsters best players with syuart o grady.

Anonymous said...

Yeah amazing how far a name can get you?
Lynch
Ames

Only joking think both deserved a trial at least...Think the leinster lads get more abuse than they deserve due to people not involved in squads making comments about things they know nothing about!!

non leinster supporter

Cookstown whipped Banbridge 5-0 today in the McCullough Cup semi. Could and should have been more. The dream team is back!!! Johnny Ames was back to his brilliant best and showed how wrong the decision not to give him a trial was.
