Per IHA site Fingal beat Railway 5-2 in the 1st round of the IJC.
Yet Railway appear in the 2nd round draw.
Was there an irregularity ?

Fingal did beat railway in the first round but were disqualified for playing an unregistered 1st's player. A mix up by us in registration.

""where are weston from?""

From a place called Lucan - its very near Tallaght. Its safe enough place during the day, there are hotels near by to the Pitch

loving John Canning's quote.... " safe enough place during the day... " !!!! lol

I played there a few weeks ago, nice pitch actually. Hopefully they won't of been on the beers before this match, as they clearly had been before we played them and won 10-1.... ( not saying that we hadn't... rude not too... lol )

Shame no bigger teams matching up this round..... cookstown vs garvey could be a cracker and Rovers vs YM will tell us alot about Rovers, YM are good this year, Rovers really should of done better in previous years of IJC. But I suspect YM.

Cookstown vs PWHC final... I'll say it now.... would be great with both teams on song.( should of happened last year tho )

Dark horse's Glennane looking good as a IJC squad, not so in the league.

Monkstown look good for the title. Rob Mason looking to get a place in that Ireland A squad. On top form

not so in the league?? corinthians result aside, glenanne have looked very strong in division 3. beating YM 1-0? and were denied a win against pembroke when a very good goal was dissallowed? thrashing fingal 7-1? what league are you watching?

Anonymous said...

Up the Ctown 2nds.

Monkstown have already beaten corinthians in the league this year and should have beaten pembroke at serpentine av.

Forget the dark horses bit, one of the favourites.

Unless Pembroke load the current league team for the IJC, I can't see them making the final.

They may have dominated this level, both league & cups in the recent past, but this season they appear to be shadows of their former selves.

They've played 9 in the league so far and have already lost 2 & drawn 3. Hardly IJC finalists / league winning form.

Monkstown, Corinthians, TRR & YM are all capable of beating them this season.

I think the best game will be TRR v YMCA. YM have been excelent this year at seconds level, and are unlucky not to be top of the league. I would put my money on them going through. There is also a top of the table clash this weekend with CHC 2 v YMCA 2 at claremount

really cant see PWHC making the final, they are not the same team the the previous few years

c of i are looking in great shape for this years ijc........already beating annadale 3 nil and harlequins by 2 and also givin quins firsts a big scare after leading by 2 only to lose 3 2.

Rob mason?? very good player, but saw him playing a division 4 game couple of weeks back. Im sure there are much better players that play Division 1 that are suited for the ireland A squad. Like Richie Shaw? or Neil Lyons?

League form and Cup form are very very different lads.

Glens do appear to have a good IJC side. ( I say appear cos they haven't really been tested yet. )

C of I beating 2 big guns already !!! have to be up there for me.

Some great comments.

Cracking site Stephen. You should get funding. ( if you don't all ready )

Love it. Convince yourselves Pembroke won't be there. They will. Either Pembroke or Cookstown for the Cup. Pembroke are the only team with the ability to beat Cookstown. As for that Monkstown players comment - "should have beaten Pembroke", your keeper was your best player that day! I think that shows you who "should have" won the game if anyone!

Comment regarding Weston/Lucan been "safe enough during the day" is a joke.

Area is fine and Weston pitch & Clubhouse is great, a credit to their club and their Committee who worked hard to get such great facilities for thier Club.

i think ye all are under estimating c of i.
we have already played them and they are one of the best 2nds teams in d country, i feel they have the perfect balance between youth and experience.i wouldnt rite them off just yet.

annadale player.

Re: CofI seconds 2 Cork Harlequins 3. I think this shows how much Harlequins are declining as a force rather than how good CofI seconds are. I saw Harlequins against Glens in IHL recently and Harlequins were shocking.

Is westons pitch sand based?

Anonymous said...

its a grit pitch!!

Stephen Findlater said...

Weston have actually laid a good astroturf pitch out and are not on the grit anymore. It got laid last season.

Played there a couple of weeks ago and it plays true, with a nice red outline.

Re: "c of i are looking in great shape for this years ijc........already beating annadale 3 nil and harlequins by 2"

I wouldn't put much credence into Dale result - they could only squeak a 2-2 draw with Cookstown III a few weeks back. But they were great last year and deserved their place in the final after beating C'town on golden goal.

Anonymous said...

yeah our keeper was excellent against pembroke. he has been all season. maybe we'll play you next time without Sheriff.

as for Rob Mason playing division 4. that's just how registrations work and Rob is happy to play every game he can. He's been in unstoppable form recently.

it was 3-1 between annadale and ci not 3-0

In ref to ""safe enough place during the day""

Weston pitch in lucan is fine - i think Mr Canning is having a bit of Fun with the above comment. Lucan is no better or worse than every other part of the country and youll find that you wont be mugged as you go from the changing rooms to the pitch !

Cookstown in great form this year. 2 points ahead of inst in the league with a game in hand. Unbeaten and averaging almost 4 goals a game.
Ps: Marty Sloan is back playing and is still a class above everyone. Anyone see his pass against Monkstown in the ijc last year for the winning goal?

Anonymous said...

Outrageous pass

Anonymous said...

"think ye all are under estimating c of i"

I love the way a c of i player uses 'ye' and then signs it as annadale...anyone who knows anything about the north knows we dont use that word at all lol.
Come on CHC 2nds

Anonymous said...

I think it will be between cookstown,c of i and pembroke for the junior cup i predict!!! how do other people feel?

Anonymous said...

Cookstown are definitely looking strong. Great keeper in thom, a big strong defense, marty sloan in midfield alongside his son stephen and a pacy frontline with ian sloan and mark crooks. Ian sloan also hasn't gone a match without scoring a dragflick since he has been put in charge of the shorts- Very promising player.

Anonymous said...

marty's pass was pure class but it was also a cool finish from a young blonde lad who caused us problems all day - -who was he and is he still playing 2nds? gone to uni??

Anonymous said...

Mr Blonde is Greg Allen - playing for Cookstown Ones at moment. Player to watch is Jon Ames - bro of Ireland's David - similar player but has pace. Frightening!!

Anonymous said...

That was greg allen. at uni now and a regular on the town 1sts.

Anonymous said...

Cookstown seconds...no one will be able to beat them....

Cookstown seconds are too strong...no one will beat them...
