Newbridge given go-ahead for astro

From the Leinster Leader:

KILDARE County Council has agreed to transfer over two acres of land at Sexes Bridge in Newbridge to the local hockey club.

The decision made at its meeting last week, means the Newbridge Hockey club can now build an astro turf pitch and other facilities. Established 13 years ago, the club has around 200 senior and junior members including Cllr Sinead Donagh.

Up to now it has not been able to secure a suitable location for a pitch in the area, instead using facilities provided by St. Mary's in Naas and Newbridge College. Both Newbridge Town and Sarsfields GFC assisted the club and Newbridge Cllr. Pat Black thanked them and Council officials, Tommy Skehan and Niall Rafferty, for their role in the land transfer negotiations.
