Pembroke through to the final

Pembroke are through to the final pairings which will decide who comes out on top of the Eurohockey trophy in Gent. They beat HC Moscow Region 2-1 on Saturday morning before beating Slavia Praha 2-0 today.

It sees them win their group with a 100 percent record and, as a result, an easier final match pairing against Italian side CUS Catania. Catania finished second in the other group, having lost to Belgian side La Gantoise.

A win in the final match will see Ireland promoted to the A division of European Cup Winners Cup action but it is possible this could be nominal as women's hockey could follow the male path with a European Hockey League in the near future.

Unfortunately they lost on penalty strokes in the end, so Ireland will remain in the B-division, with Italy & Belgium getting promoted instead!!!
